Done shopping now the work begins

Buying family size packages can be less expensive than buying individual. For example chicken is readily available in larger quantities at a lower price. The same applies to salmon. I actually learned my lesson from a side of salmon, when I froze it whole. When I pulled it from the freezer I cooked the whole piece. Needless to say we enough leftovers for two meals. Now when I get home I re-package the larger quantities into meal size.

I also prep ingredients when I get home from shopping. We keep mushrooms, jalapeno peppers and bell peppers cleaned & diced in the freezer. My goal is to be able to just pull the right amount of ingredients out for the meal that I am cooking. It has also cut down on waste.

Time permitting I will also cook in bulk at this time. I make five pounds of taco meat, using hamburger at a time. The hardest part is dicing 4 or 5 onions. I use the chop box and it only takes a few minutes. I store them in pint mason jars in the freezer. A pint jar works for us when feeding three people, if there are more for the meal we open a second jar.
