Cooking Tools for Beginners

My daughter turns 19 this month. I am so proud of her I may boast from time to time.
I decided that over the course of the next year I would gift her the tools she will need to cook. It will also give you an idea of what workable kitchen tools cost.

I started with a 13-piece stainless steel, 3 ply pot and pan set. I had been doing some research and decided that this set would work and probably last a lifetime. I purchased it at a wholesale club for $140, there was a sale going on, normally $175.
She is a wrangler at a guest ranch in Colorado this summer, so this gift is stored in the basement.

The knife set came from the same wholesale club, $12. It is enough to get her started.
I will acknowledge that I will spend probably $75 to $100 on tools to keep knives sharp. Stay tuned, maybe I can find a good one on sale.

Scored again, these are probably the most used tool in the kitchen, all 4 for only $18. I just have to find grates that can take 490 degrees. Baking sheets use:
• Baking
• Prepping meats
• Put next to a cutting board to collect scraps
• Easiest way to cook a pound of bacon, with a grate
• Chicken wings, five pounds and a grater.
• 3 pounds of diced potatoes a little parchment paper, ready for the freezer

This is easy if you start far enough in advance, silicon tools on sale $15.

That’s $1.50 per tool, she will need a few more but this is a long way towards getting the smaller tools needed.

Total to date $185

I believe I can set her up with a complete quality kitchen package for around $300, by doing it in advance.
